How to Help Your Anxious Child: A Workshop for Parents

January 19, 2017

  • Program Description

When worry and anxiety move into a family, the impact can be confusing and dramatic. Yet families can learn how worry works (it’s not that complicated!), then interrupt the cycle of worry that has often persisted for generations.

This workshop will describe the strategies Lynn teaches in her clinical practice, addressing common problems and specific questions with concrete language, role playing, and demonstrations.  The goal is to help parents learn her approach to worry, take it home, and put it to immediate use.

This workshop is for parents only who are not working as clinicians in the field.

There will be no CEUs offered for this event.

  • Objectives

    Participants will be able to:

-Interrupt their own patterns of anxious parenting
-Incorporate activities that correct the common cognitive traps that bolster both anxiety and depression.
-Explain the difference between content-based and process-based interventions
-Increase playfulness, humor, games, collaboration, and active homework assignments in the parenting of an anxious child
